Primary Prevention Programming:
The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc. is dedicated to not only educating the community about domestic and violence sexual, but we also strive to eliminate these forms of violence through primary prevention programming. The Bridge offers 7-10 weeks of psycho-educational groups to all young people ages 9-22 concerning the root causes of violence. We provide the youth with knowledge and skills so that they are less likely to perpetrate domestic or sexual violence. Each of our groups are tailored to meet the age, needs, and interests of the students in the group. Topics of the group include, community and trust building, defining healthy relationships, understanding boundaries, self esteem, communication, gender socialization, media literacy and appreciating diversity. Teen Dating Violence: 45 min- 1 hour
1 in 4 students will experience an abusive relationship while in high school. Unfortunately this means too many of us are affected by teen dating violence. In this workshop, we assist youth and adults identify the warning signs of teen dating violence and describe how someone can best support a loved one if they suspect they are experiencing an abusive relationship.
Sexual Violence 101: 1-3 Hours
Stalking & Legal Remedies: 1-2 hours
What is stalking exactly, and how do I know if its stalking, just an annoyance, or harassment? In this workshop we will describe the differences between stalking and harassment, and also the legal options survivors of stalking possess. Participants will also gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of stalking through an interactive activity.
