Board Member Spotlight

Lindsay Swanagan, Secretary of The Bridge Board of Directors

The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc. is honored to spotlight Lindsay Swanagan, our dedicated Board Secretary. As a passionate advocate for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, Lindsay brings a wealth of expertise, leadership, and personal dedication to our mission. Her deep-rooted commitment to service makes her an invaluable part of our organization.

Lindsay was inspired to join the Board of The Bridge because of her profound belief in its mission—to offer support, provide safety, and prevent domestic and sexual violence. Having personally witnessed domestic violence within her family and as a survivor of child sexual abuse, Lindsay’s commitment to this cause is deeply personal.

“Knowing that I have a calling to serve others, I was drawn to The Bridge because I deeply believe in its mission,” Lindsay shares. “Being part of an organization that develops programs and provides vital resources to those in need is both an honor and a responsibility I wholeheartedly embrace.”

As Board Secretary, Lindsay aims to ensure strong governance, clear communication, and strategic decision-making. She is also committed to advocating for survivor-centered policies and increasing awareness about domestic and sexual violence within the community.

With an extensive background in healthcare leadership, Lindsay brings a unique set of skills and perspectives to the board.

  • Healthcare Expertise—Lindsay’s clinical knowledge as a nurse provides valuable insights into trauma and survivor care.
  • Operational Efficiency – Her experience in streamlining processes and improving workflow enhances the effectiveness of The Bridge’s programs.
  • Crisis Management—As a healthcare executive, she is adept at staying calm under pressure and making informed decisions, which are critical skills when addressing emergencies and strategic challenges.
  • Quality Improvement – Lindsay has a background in patient safety, outcome tracking, and performance improvement, helping the Board measure and enhance the organization’s impact.
  • Community Advocacy – Her experience in patient education enables her to advocate for survivors and influence policy changes effectively.
  • Compassionate Leadership – Having worked directly with vulnerable populations, Lindsay brings empathy, understanding, and a survivor-centered approach to decision-making.

Lindsay encourages anyone considering getting involved with The Bridge to take that first step.

“Supporting this cause means offering hope, safety, and healing to those affected by domestic and sexual violence,” she says. “Every effort—whether volunteering, advocating, or donating—helps empower survivors and prevent future harm. Your support can change lives, no matter how big or small.”

Outside of her professional and board responsibilities, Lindsay is the Vice President of Outpatient Services at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, where she has worked for 24 years in various leadership roles. Her passion for professional growth is evident in her educational achievements, including an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Healthcare Management from Western Governors University.

Lindsay is also an active member of the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives (NALHE) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). She is deeply committed to her community, serving as a Life Group leader and volunteering in the Children’s Ministry at her church.

When she’s not working or serving, Lindsay enjoys traveling, playing golf, reading, and spending quality time with her family. Married to her high school sweetheart from Deer Park High School, she and her husband are celebrating 25 years of marriage and have two wonderful children.

When asked which historical figure or celebrity she would love to have dinner with, Lindsay chose comedian Kevin Hart. “He is full of energy, and I enjoy laughter and crazy funny stories,” she says.

If she could instantly master any skill, it would be the ability to play multiple musical instruments and sing.

Lindsay’s personal mission statement is simple yet profound: “To love God and love others.” This guiding principle is evident in everything she does, from her leadership at The Bridge to her commitment to serving her community.

We are incredibly grateful to have Lindsay Swanagan on The Bridge Board of Directors. Her dedication, expertise, and heart for survivors make her a powerful force in our mission to provide safety, support, and prevention in the fight against domestic and sexual violence.
