This weekend was Valentine’s Day. How did you show yourself love?

As is custom in our society, flowers are a gift that many give or receive on Valentine’s Day, for special occasions, and a myriad of other celebrations.

I used to always wonder why flowers represented love and we gifted them to people, when they die in a few days… only to be tossed in the trash and never enjoyed again.

Then a wise person, probably my mother, told me that flowers are way to speak in emotions, when words may be unavailable.

Every culture has a unique history and perspective on floriography (the language of flowers) but they all go back to communicating various emotions, needs and passions.

We can learn so much from flowers. One of the most obvious lessons is that the more water, sun, and good soil they get, the better they grow.

The same is true for us.

The more good nutrients (physical, emotional and mental) we pour into ourselves, the better we grow.

“A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.”
